During COVID-19 the UK Government advice to employers on training is as follows:
“Furloughed employees can engage in training, as long as in undertaking the training the employee does not provide services to, or generate revenue for, or on behalf of their organisation or a linked or associated organisation. Furloughed employees should be encouraged to undertake training.”
We have an extensive history and understanding of video, animation and interactive learning production. We know how important it is to breakdown the requirements and deliver them economically without compromising the quality or storytelling. We have created a number of training projects, mainly around health and safety, fire safety, ethics and compliance, duty of care, and information security. Below are some examples of the projects we have worked on.
We provide services to direct clients and agencies, working with organisations such as; Sony, Royal Mail, Coca-Cola, DHL, Nestlé, and Network Rail to help them visualise their messages and communicate them through compelling training.
Code Of Conduct Training
We worked with a leading global pharmaceutical company that has over 55,000 people employed worldwide, so it is of the utmost importance to them as a business that every employee behaves ethically and responsibly within their daily work.
To help support our client with this endeavour we created an HTML5 module to provide training for their employees, in order for them to on-board them on their new Code of Conduct (CoC).
The training is delivered through interactive activities such as drag-and-drop, pathfinding, treasure hunts, and matching pairs, using gamification to make the the learning experience fun while allowing for a high level of information retention. Comic strips of real ethical dilemmas faced by employees were also used to align the training with real world scenarios.
User results are tracked and posted via SCORM to their learning profile on their learning management system. The module was translated into 20 languages, and rolled out across the company globally.
Health and Safety Training
An training application that utilises functionality in order to provide a rich media content experience, and is compatible with mobile and tablet devices.
This diverse and engaging interactive application provides a comprehensive guide to Health and Safety procedures that needs to be adhered to throughout the business environment.
It combines humour, problem solving through gameplay, and animated scenarios to educate staff. Interactive multiple choice questions provide a far more challenging and absorbent learning method, resulting in quality information retention.
The application is standalone but can also be integrated into an Learning Management System that supports SCORM.
DHL – Employee Wellbeing App
We were commissioned to create 6 animated films in order to educate DHL’s employees on productivity in the workplace, for use within an app. The 6 subjects were:
- How to Manage Lists
- How to Manage Interruptions
- How to Manage Email
- How to Manage Expectations and not Overpromise
- How to Say No Effectively
- How to Avoid Procrastination
Animation has become the new process manuals for an organization. Forget boring, heavy books. By releasing a video that outlines the must do’s or basics in specific situations, you are sending out a clear message, outlining and enforcing procedures that many may have skipped involuntarily.
This can anything that requires explanation, no matter how simple the task. Videos are effective, as they are not subject to interpretation.
Risk Advisory – Safe Traveller
Safe Traveller is a 90-minute online elearning application that allows corporate security and HR managers to rapidly and effectively roll out a highly cost effective and engaging travel security training programme across their travelling workforce.
At the end of each of 5 modules users must complete an evaluation exercise designed to enhance as well as test the knowledge they have acquired. Safe Traveller allows corporate security and HR managers to rapidly and effectively roll out a highly cost effective and engaging travel security training programme across their travelling workforce.
Safe Traveller features a bespoke LMS (Learning Management System), built using PHP, allowing clients to administrate their own employees’ access to the course, and to track their progress and results. The content has also been repurposed for deployment through SCORM-compliant Learning Management Systems, allowing it to be used within existing internal training systems. This also went through rigorous security checks with some of Risk Advisory’s financial clients.
Syngenta – Information Security Animation
We created a short 2D animation to raise employee awareness about online safety, educating them about the “do’s and dont’s” of the online world to help minimise the chance of falling victim to cyber attacks.
We produced a video that illustrates the importance of being cautious exchanging certain information online. It shows how some situations can be deceptive by drawing parallels between the real world and the online world – what we share privately can have as much of an impact on safety as sharing valuable business information.
In order to effectively communicate what the right and wrong behaviour is in each situation, we focused on two main characters – Tim and Joy. Joy is internet-savvy and security conscious, while Tim does not think through his actions and the information he shares. Despite the serious subject matter, we managed to keep the animation light-hearted by injecting some humour using these characters.
Due to its corporate nature the look had to be sleek and clean while the aim was to reach the viewer on a more personal, emotional level.
Fire Safety – Distance VR Learning
Fire safety legislation places fire safety responsibilities on employers and employees. Everyone has a responsibility to ensure they have regard for the safety of themselves and their colleagues, patients, and visitors.
Fire Safety VR Training is designed to:
- Promote understanding of the nature of fire and why fires start
- Educate users on measures to take to prevent fires from starting
- Help to identify fire-related equipment and signs
- Demonstrate how to act in the event of fire in the workplace
In partnership with Knights Agency we created 8 interactive modules that take users through simulated workplace settings. The goal of the project is to bring the staff skills training world into VR and provide retentive and engaging learning.
There are many examples of high level clinical training demonstrations utilizing VR in healthcare but following research we found that there is a gap in the market for the technology in the more day to day, and much higher volume, aspects of workforce development.
